Himachal Pradesh, India, is home to beautiful mountains—but each of these is named after a deity. And people's lives there are marked by spirit worship, witchcraft and rituals. Gospel for Asia has ministry in this scenic region, where people still need to hear of Jesus' love.
Eleven young people recently graduated from the GFA Bible college in Himachal Pradesh. Ten of these graduates are now serving as GFA missionaries.
A number of GFA field leaders and other missionaries in the state joined the students' friends and family for the graduation ceremony.
Worship songs were a part of the program as people lifted their voices to give the glory to Jesus on this special occasion.
For these young men, being prayed over and commissioned for ministry was a joyous yet sober occasion. They knew the dangers they could face for taking the Good News of Jesus to some of the world's most unreached people.
Simon John, a GFA regional leader in India, knows the reality that this man he is handing a diploma to could be severely beaten—or possibly even martyred—for the sake of Jesus.
Despite the very real threat of obstacles and persecution, GFA missionaries across South Asia joyfully set forth to bring the Gospel to those who need it most. They have been well-trained through GFA's intensive three-year program and are willing to face the dangers.
By God's gracious provision, most of the new graduates will see a church fellowship begin within their first year on the mission field.
